Azeefa Fathima (she/her) is a journalist based in south India, reporting for The News Minute. Her body of work includes in-depth, longform reports on LGBTQIA+ issues, caste, human rights, health and law. She has produced stories in print, digital and video formats, primarily covering Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
She was a fellow with the Health Systems Transformation Platform in 2022. She is a contributor and trainer for the InQlusive Newsrooms project – a collaboration between The News Minute and Queer Chennai Chronicles to make the Indian media ecosystem sensitive to LGBTQIA+ issues. Having reported on multiple and intersecting inequalities, she will be covering caste as a beat for The News Minute.
