Quinto Elemento Lab is an independent journalism nonprofit that produces investigative stories that aim to empower citizens, strengthen accountability and help build a more just and transparent society.

Inequality, impunity and corruption are still leaving a mark in Mexico. That’s one of the reasons why Quinto Elemento focuses on investigations that shed light on the inequalities, abuses and failures of the powerful as well as the inequality in the exercise of citizen’s rights.

Position: Location: Mexico Beat: Investigative reporting Position: Quinto Elemento Lab is looking for an experienced reporter to develop investigations with the potential to uncover important issues for a Mexican and international audience. The ideal candidate should have the ability to focus on in-depth investigations, conduct extensive research and collect information, establish and cultivate sources, have experience in filling forms requesting public records and a proven knowledge of several databases available for journalistic investigations. Main assignments would entail abuse of power, corruption and wrongdoing in the private and public sector. Applicants should have five to eight years reporting experience.
